Public Transport
The town of Monterotondo is well served by public transportation, both for connections to Rome and for getting around within the municipality itself.
URBAN TRANSPORT
Local transport is operated by Rossi Bus, which runs an urban bus service along the main streets of the town, extending down to the Scalo district where the railway station is located.
At Via 25 Ottobre 15 — approximately 400 meters (a 5-minute walk) from Residence Novecento — you will find the Rossi Bus stop served by the L1 line, which will take you directly to Monterotondo railway station. Services run from 07:10 to 19:30, Monday to Saturday.

Services begin in the early hours of the morning — from approximately 04:05 or 05:20 depending on the specific route — and continue into the evening, until around 16:00 on some direct services or 20:40 on others. During peak hours, buses run every 20 to 45 minutes.
RAIL SERVICES
Monterotondo’s Scalo station is well connected by a regular service that runs through Rome and continues all the way to Fiumicino Airport.
The line that links Monterotondo directly to Rome and to Rome Fiumicino Airport is the FL1 regional railway line (Orte/Fara Sabina – Fiumicino Airport). All trains on this line run direct — with no changes required — to both Rome’s city stations and the airport, stopping at several points within the capital, including Tiburtina, Tuscolana, Ostiense, and Trastevere stations.
Trains run every 15 minutes on weekdays (during peak hours) and every 30 minutes on public holidays and at other times. The first train from Monterotondo departs at 05:17 (direct to Fiumicino Airport), and the last train departs at 22:02 (also direct to Fiumicino Airport). Please verify these times as they are subject to change.
The journey to Roma Tiburtina takes approximately 28 minutes; the journey to Fiumicino Airport takes approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes. Tickets can be purchased at Monterotondo Scalo station at the ticket office, at self-service ticket machines, or at authorised newsstands and tobacconists, particularly those near the station.
It is worth looking into the integrated travel pass. A single monthly pass allows unlimited use — with one card or ticket — of the FL1 rail service from Monterotondo, COTRAL buses, and the entire urban transport network of Rome (metro, ATAC buses, and trams).
Safety notice: At busy locations such as Roma Termini and Roma Tiburtina stations, be extremely vigilant as pickpockets are known to operate in these areas. Never leave your luggage unattended and do not allow yourself to be distracted by strangers approaching you — they often work in pairs.
